EGYPT REVIVAL: The launch of a new antidrug youth project

03.11.2012

Despite the political confrontations in Egypt, this country doesn’t forget about other issues regardless its political regime. Thus, the new antidrug youth project “Future defenders” was recently started in one of the African countries.

Organizers say that the main objective of the project is to change the attitude of young people to drugs and to disprove the myth that drugs bring joy, making the addicts modern and advanced.

In the framework of the project “Defenders of the future” the first action, where volunteers walked in the streets of the cities, holding banners with saying “Warning! Drugs!”, was recently held.

“Initially the project was aimed at the attraction of attention of the authorities to the need to improve the system of drug treatment, however later we understood that drug prevention campaign among youth will be more effective,” Ahmed Hossam, one of the project’s organizers stated at the presentation. "We are focused on the propaganda of quitting cannabis smoking in particular, since the modern youth often abuse it, thinking that it doesn’t cause addiction and it’s not prohibited in Islam,” he added.

In conclusion Ahmen Hossam noted that project “Defenders of the future” expects to see all those, who wish to participate in the fight against drug addiction spread.
