Recently the procuracy of the Belgian city Antwerp announced about the arrest of the record volume of cocaine in the world and the whole European Union. According to preliminary estimations the price for this confiscation at the black market is up to 500 million euro.
Drugs, placed into 7000 separate packs, were hidden in the boxes with bananas, which were storaged in the container heading from Ecuador to Holland. Police noted that cocaine was not even hidden well.
Belgian custom’s control followed the drug traffickers up to the place of container’s unloading in the industrial zone of Rotterdam in Netherlands. Along with so called “goods” they detained the driver of the container and four citizens of Holland, who did the unloading of the container.
According to the law enforcement authorities of Belgium, this volume of drugs with a weight of 8 tons is the record drug consignment for the whole history of Europe. Police hasn’t decided yet what to do with this huge volume of cocaine, but bananas used for masking were already sent to the zoo of Rotterdam.
