Questions

  • Doctors tend not to talk about "recovered drug addicts," and prefer the term "inactive addicts" those who dont use drugs right at given moment. In your opinion, is it not possible to get rid of this label? Even in the opinion of drug treatment experts, patients remain forever addicted. How can the modern society be taught to have an adequate attitude toward former drug addicts and consider them as a part of the society?

I do not agree with the doctors’ approach to this problem. Drug addicts are the same people as we are and they have a right to be treated the same way. Everyone can have a second chance. Do not forget that drug addicts realized their problem and therefore they decided to ask for the medical help. There are many drug addicts who do not even want to be cured, but those who were rehabilitated do everything to get back into society. I think we should help them with it.

  • In you opinion how important is parental education and relationships within the family in preventing drug addiction?

Family plays the most important role, because parents are the ones who teach children to confront life difficulties. School gives education, hobby groups teach certain skills, but the ability to take the right decisions is taught by parents.

  • What should be in the Internet age and growth of online communities informational methods to combat drug addiction? What do you think, what means will be most effective today, and how the state should behave in order to successfully affect the suffering of drug addiction and to conduct prevention among healthy population?

It often happens that the great power of mass media is underestimated and we should do something about it. It does not matter whether we are talking about radio, television or Internet, the media themselves do not don’t do the whole work. It is necessary to stop and think about the audience, the message is addressed to, and to make the information understandable. It is also very important to choose a correct time, because the broadcasting of public ads aimed at teenagers will be useless at the time when they do not watch TV. In addition, social advertising will change nothing without governmental support. We should join our efforts and make young people understand that it is much better to be involved in alternative activities instead of using drugs. Everything is interrelated and it is important for governments to understand that methods of fighting against drug abuse are useless unless they are separated. We need to combine them and work in multidisciplinary teams.
